How do free bets actually work, start to finish?

Four steps. One: open the account through the offer link — that's what applies the offer, no code needed. Two: deposit and place the qualifying bet with your own money — minimum stake, at or above the minimum odds, from a payment method that qualifies. Three: the free bets land once that bet settles, usually within a few hours. Four: stake them before they expire — winnings are yours, the free-bet stake isn't returned. That's the entire machine; everything else is detail.

Are free bets really free?

The free bet is. Getting it isn't, quite — you usually stake a qualifying bet with your own money first, and that tenner is at risk like any normal bet. That's the bit everyone glosses over, so we don't. 18+, T&Cs apply.

Can I withdraw a free bet as cash?

No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. You stake the free bet; if it wins, the winnings (minus the free-bet stake, almost always) are yours to withdraw. Check each bookie's terms.

Do free bets expire?

Almost always — 7 days is the norm, occasionally 30, and the clock usually starts when they're credited, not when you remember them. Every ticket on this page shows the expiry chip. Free bets dying unused is the quietest way bookies save money.
